Results of the 12th annual photo competition published
The results of the 12th annual photo competition have been published in the Results.
This year, a total of 238 photographs from 26 institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences were submitted. From these, the expert jury once again selected images for the representative Czech Academy of Sciences calendar and for the exhibition Photogenic Science. The exhibition is open to the public in the Science and Art Gallery on the ground floor of the Academy of Sciences building on Národní Street until 30 January 2026. We thank all participants for taking part and congratulate the award winners!

Photo submission for the Photogenic Science competition has been extended! If you didn’t make the original deadline, there’s still time — you can now submit your photographs until Monday, 30 June 2025. The competition is open to all employees of the Czech Academy of Sciences and features two categories: the main category Photogenic Science and the special category Scientists with a Sense of Humour. Don’t miss your chance to take part — we look forward to seeing your photos!
Science in the crosshairs: The new year of the Photogenic Science competition will kick off!
Starting Monday, May 5, 2025, the twelfth edition of the popular photo competition Photogenic Science opens for entries. The contest is exclusively for employees of the Czech Academy of Sciences and offers a unique opportunity to present scientific work not only as a field of knowledge, but also as a visually inspiring world full of beauty, creativity, and unexpected moments. This year, participants can enter their photos into two categories. The main category, Photogenic Science, is dedicated to images with a scientific theme – from photographs of scientific instruments, details of nature or life in the laboratory, and even researchers working with historical documents or conducting work in libraries. Only photographs taken within the past two years may be submitted to this category. The secondary category, Scientists with a Sense of Humor, provides space for lighthearted and humorous views of the scientific environment – in this category, there is no restriction on when the photo was taken. Photos can be submitted until Sunday, June 15, 2025. A jury of professionals from the fields of science, photography, and media will select the best entries. Selected photographs will be featured in an exhibition and in the official Czech Academy of Sciences calendar for 2026.
